What we do
Hot water tank replacement
Removal of the old tank and installation of the new one, including connections, venting, and the seismic strapping and drain pan requirements that apply in BC. Gas or electric.
New hot water tank installation
First installation or relocation — new builds, renovations, or moving a tank to free up space.
Tankless water heater installation and replacement
Installation of tankless systems and replacement of existing ones, including the gas supply and venting the unit needs. Being a Class B Gas Fitter as well as a plumber means the gas side and the water side are the same person's job rather than two trades and two visits.
Repairs to existing systems
Not every failure needs a new tank. Thermostats, elements, thermocouples, anode rods and valves are all repairable, and on a tank with years left in it a repair is the right answer.
Tank or tankless?
Tank is cheaper up front, simpler to service, and fine for most households. If your current tank works for you, replacing like for like is usually the sensible call.
Tankless costs more to install, often needs a gas line upgrade, and takes more space on the wall — but it does not run out of hot water and it lasts considerably longer. It makes the most sense if you are already renovating, already upgrading gas, or genuinely run short of hot water.
If you are not sure, call and describe your household. It is a five-minute conversation and it will save you money in one direction or the other.
Signs your tank is close to done
- It is more than ten to twelve years old
- Rusty or discoloured hot water
- Rumbling or popping while heating — usually sediment
- Hot water running out faster than it used to
- Any moisture or staining around the base
A leak from the tank body is not usually the first warning. It is the last one.
