What we do
Furnace repair
Ignition and pilot faults, burners, gas valves, thermocouples, flame sensors, and the gas side of the appliance generally. If the furnace is running but the house is not getting warm, or it is short-cycling, that gets diagnosed before anything gets replaced.
Furnace servicing and tune-ups
An annual service on a gas furnace is not a manufacturer's upsell. A dirty burner burns less cleanly, a clogged filter makes the unit work harder for less heat, and a heat exchanger nobody has looked at in six years is the part you actually want checked. A tune-up covers cleaning, adjustment, and a check that the appliance is burning and venting the way it should.

When to book a service
Late summer and early autumn. Before the first cold snap, not during it.
The reason is practical rather than promotional: everyone in Greater Victoria discovers their furnace has a problem on the same three cold nights, and that is the week when nobody can get to you quickly. A furnace serviced in September is a furnace you do not think about in January.
If it has been more than a year, or you have just bought the house and have no idea when it was last looked at, that is the time.
What we do not do
Being straight about the boundary is faster for everyone than a call that ends in a referral.
Air conditioning, heat pumps, and cooling of any kind — no.
Why the gas ticket matters here
Work on the gas side of a furnace is regulated in British Columbia, and doing it without the certification is not a technicality — it is the difference between a safe appliance and a dangerous one.
Blue Heron is licensed and bonded. Technical Safety BC licence LIC-00214320, and a $10,000 safety gas bond. The licence number is on this page so you can look it up rather than take our word for it, which is the point of having one.
What it costs
Estimates are free. You will have a quote before any work is carried out, and it is agreed with you before anything starts.
A repair is quoted once the fault is diagnosed, because quoting a furnace fault sight-unseen is guessing. A tune-up is a known scope and can be quoted on the phone.
